ChatGPT Deep Research is Impressive
ChatGPT, the Generative AI platform, recently (late February 2025) moved their Deep Research capability down from their $200/month plan to their $20/month a plan.
While you should always be wary of what Large Language Models (LLMs) tell you, verifying what they say (to avoid looking bad for being overly trusting), the Deep Research capability is an impressive thing to watch. Instead of waiting a few seconds for a response to your question, it takes several (my experience was 5-10 minutes), for much more detailed responses. I recently was researching a few different things, including summer vacation options, magnet and private schools in my area, and 55+ communities for a family member. In each case, ChatGPT Deep Research was thorough, finding several options I wasn't aware of, and creating a detailed report or table (whichever format I requested), with links to information. It was able to do things like add a column that shows drive time, in minutes, at a certain time of day for local schools, which was useful (and a tedious task I do when researching things like vacation spots for snow tubing).
Once it performs the initial research, you can chat with it (as usual in LLMs) to ask it to revise the research, adding columns/sections, adding new options, and asking questions like "Why wasn't this specific vacation spot included in your research?"
