I've been enjoying some old podcast episodes from Reboot.io, which is a coaching company. I was recently listening to this 2015 episode (Reboot Podcast #10 Fail with Honor), and loved Jerry Colonna's comment that the 3 core responsibilities of CEOs are:

Hold (and share) the vision for the organization
Build the team
Give the team what they need

I thought that was a great way to zoom in on the core responsibilites of the head of an organization.
