Through a great friend, I got connected with Jennifer Jacobs last year, who co-founded Connect Our Kids. She has a fascinating journey, including serving in the military in roles relating to nuclear operations. After reading a magazine article about the challenges for social workers to identify relatives of children in the foster care system (using sticky notes, spreadsheets, and random phone calls to try to put together family trees), she felt called to co-found a non-profit to build a platform to modernize that world, providing a tool for social workers across the country.
Everytime I talk with Jennifer, I’m inspired by the stories of the impact the organization is making. I get excited when people pursue noble missions that can benefit from best practices from other domains (in this case, areas like social graphs, data brokers, and case management/CRM concepts).
I’m excited by what she’s doing, and I encourage you to follow them and consider contributing financial support as they continue to pursue their mission!
