I was enjoying this Strong in Six – You Need Process So Quit Calling It Boring podcast this morning — they made a great point that organizations need to continuously balance new actions/initiatives/goals, often coming from visionary leaders who are casting/updating where the organization is doing) with investing in process maturity (the operations managers and other detail-oriented, process-focused people). An organization with lots of new ideas/visions without process leads to inconsistency and chaos. Vice versa and you have a beautiful system not going anywhere useful.
Leaders need to continuously consider how much change and chaos the organization can digest. Attributes like organizational size, culture, current leaders can all dramatically affect how much change an organization can absorb without collapsing or devolving.
